Charlotte, NC –-(Ammoland.com)- Tell Your Member of Congress to Vote “Yes” on Holder Contempt Resolution and Civil Lawsuit Authority

Thursday, June 28—the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on whether to hold Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. in contempt of Congress, and to authorize a civil lawsuit to enforce the contempt resolution.

These votes are a result of the Obama-Holder Justice Department’s open defiance of legitimate demands for documents about the “Fast and Furious” program—documents that are needed for a complete congressional investigation of one of the most disastrous episodes in the history of federal law enforcement.

In the “Fast and Furious” program, agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives pressured honest firearm dealers to make sales to known straw purchasers, with the intention of allowing those firearms to be trafficked to Mexican drug cartels. The guns would only be traced after they were recovered by authorities, often after being used in violent crimes. And of course, one of those crimes was the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

One of the issues the documents could address is the White House’s use of this program to promote its gun control agenda. We already know that the White House hoped to use the operation to support its illegal multiple sales reporting plan, which amounts to gun registration for honest Americans who buy long guns in southwest border states.

Our support of the contempt resolution is not about Attorney General Holder’s promotion of lies about Mexican gun trafficking, his support for bringing back the 1994 Clinton gun ban, or the multiple sales registration scheme.

The reason we support the contempt resolution is the same reason we first called for Attorney General Holder’s resignation more than a year ago: the Department’s obstruction of congressional investigations into a program that has cost lives in support of an anti-gun agenda.

The American people—including millions of NRA members and tens of millions of NRA supporters—deserve the truth about these issues.

You can help by contacting your U.S. Representative today and respectfully asking him or her to vote “Yes” on holding the Attorney General in contempt of Congress, and “Yes” on civil lawsuit authority.
